The Sava is the longest river in Slovenia, which begins when Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjka merge in the historic town of Radovljica. In consequence, its rapids are long, pools deep and cascades wide. It is also home to very big fish, as no year passes by when someone doesn’t catch a Huchen longer than 110 cm. The fishing season runs all year round, except in the months of snowmelt when the fish are quite picky because of the abundance of food.

You will begin fishing in the morning, when you will meet your guide at a pre-arranged spot or in front of your accommodation.
After a brief lecture on the most important things you have to look out for while fly fishing in Slovenia, you'll begin with the fishing and during the day you'll visit the best places on the river which are known to produce fish.

With the constant guidance and assistence of our guides, you'll be prepared to catch some nice specimens of trout, grayling or other types of fish residing in the river.
The trip will end in the late afternoon/evening time, with a smile on your face and a camera full of nice photos.

Huchen
Huchen is Slovenia’s top predator species and the biggest representative of the trout family. Its average size is from 60 to 120 cm, with the biggest up to 150 cm long. In the past, fishing for “the fish of a thousand casts” was only reserved for the privileged few, only getting available to the wider public in the last decades. It can be found only in the rivers of the Danube basin, like the Sava, Savinja and Krka, and always presents a challenging catch.

Grayling
Grayling is one of the most popular European fly-fishing species since it mostly feeds on insects and could be quite picky with them. It’s not the biggest fish but is certainly amongst the most beautiful, especially since male Graylings have a colourful flag-like dorsal fin. It grows to a minimum of 45 cm with the largest in Slovenia being caught at 63 cm long.

Brown Trout
The brown trout is a classic fly-fishing species, that every fly-fisher already knows. It’s the most widespread fish in Slovenia and can be found in most of our waters. Its size ranges from 25 to 80 cm, with the largest found in the Karst rivers like Unica. Its yellow-brown, olive green, dark grey or copper red body is sprinkled with red and sometimes black or white spots.

Rainbow Trout
The Rainbow Trout is one of the most widespread species in Slovenia, adapted to many different bodies of water in the country. They are also one of the most common catches since they bite on almost anything and put up an enjoyable fight afterwards. They can reach the size of up to 90 cm and satisfy any fisher with their rainbow-coloured flank with black dots.

Branko
I've been fishing since I was 6. My favourite kind of fishing in young age was lake fishing, for carp and other lake species. Later, when I discovered the art of fly fishing, this technique took over and I've been a passionate fly fishing angler ever since. In my fishing career I've visited the majority of Slovenian rivers. As a competitor in the National fly fishing championship I've gained many experience and fished in difficult conditions on pressured waters. My top 3 rivers are Idrijca, Savinja and Soča
Žiga
I am fishing since I was 3 years old and with age, my passion for fishing only got bigger. As a kid, I was learning about many fishing techniques, but with time, fly and spin fishing have become my favorite ways to spend time by the water. I spend more than 100 days in a year fishing on various venues, hence I know most of the rivers, creeks and lakes in Slovenia. My 3 favorite places are Soča, Sava Bohinjka and Idrijca. Nymphing is my number one technique I'm implementing whenever I can. I’m fluent in English and German.
Martin
I have an angling predispositions in my genes, since the whole myle part of the family have been passionate anglers. Where I come from, the waters are rich with fish and it wasn't hard to get in love with the sport. in recent years I devoted my time to guiding, trying to show what rivers in my area have to offer. My favourite methods of fishing are fly and spin fishing. During my career I've caught some nice fish, among those are hucho 100+cm, pike 103cm and grayling 57cm.
Uroš
I am Uroš Bajič from Kranj, and I have been very active in the Slovenian fishing scene since the age of five. I have been a member of the fishing family for almost 20 years. Together with other members, we perform a lot of fishery and aquaculture work, which you can also see by appointment. I fished in most of Slovenian lakes and rivers, but also some foreign ones. In my youth, I participated in competitions, which I later gave up due to lack of time and remained fishing only for my own personal pleasure. Now I would like to make all this knowledge and joy about fish and fishing available to others through guidance. I catch all kinds of fish and I can also say that I am an expert of all fishing techniques: from bottom fishing as well as spin-fishing, and fly fishing. The latter is closest to my heart, which is why it takes up most of my time throughout the year. I love dry-fly fishing and nymphing. In recent years, I have also paid a lot of attention to hunting the king of our waters - the huchen.
